Male Engineering Student Explains Why His Female Classmates Aren’t His Equals

Jared Mauldin is a senior in mechanical engineering at Eastern Washington University, and he doesn’t think that the female students are equal to him. So, he decided to send out a letter to the editor of his school paper to tell them that.

However, even though this sounds horrific, it couldn’t be further from the truth. Mauldin indeed explains why his female classmates are not his equals, for example, he didn’t grow up in a world that discouraged him from focusing on hard science, and he wasn’t shown images in slogans all the time that tell him his true worth was in how he looks.

Mauldin pointed out many other issues women face, especially in STEM fields, and thousands of people have since shared his letter across social media.

You can check out the full letter for yourself below, and feel free to share your thoughts about it in the comments.
