A popular meme has been recently circulating on the internet. The meme reads: “Dear guys embarrassed about buying tampons, No one thinks they’re for you.”
Although this is true, the reality is that no one really cares if they actually are for them.
Have you ever thought that there are some dudes get periods? There are trans men and non-binary people that don’t necessarily identify as women, but they still have female organs and they do get periods. Yes, it’s mostly women that get periods, and we don’t want to sound like one of those “Oh, it’s ‘What about men’ rhetoric all over again”.
The meme wasn’t intended for women only. In fact, it was specifically meant to tell men to grow up and stop complaining when they’re sent by their partners, mothers, sisters, friends, or any other woman or period-receiving person in their life to buy tampons or menstrual products. But we feel that men need to be reminded that there are other men that do get periods, and there’s nothing wrong or embarrassing about it. Yes, it’s okay for people to assume that a man is buying menstrual products for himself.
