A husband from India has allegedly opened his pregnant wife’s belly to find out if she was bearing a son this time, after she gave him birth to five girls.
The husband, named Pannalal, has been taken into custody after he did the ordeal on September 19 in the Indian state Uttar Pradesh.
The police reported that his wife was around seven-months pregnant at the time, and she’s currently in serious condition in a Bareilly hospital. The family of the woman reported that Pannalal wanted a son, since he had five daughters, and he was angry at his wife that she birthed him five girls.
The preference of sons remains very strong in India, and it’s believed that boys add to the family wealth, while daughters ‘drown the families’ with dowries.
