Adopting a child is probably one of the best feelings ever, but besides the enormous joy, it also comes with a number of complications – especially if you decide children that are not infants.

Older children may have to adjust to their new homes and all the new people in their world, and they may also have memories of their former families.

Well, one Redditor recently decided to take it to the Am I The A-hole subreddit and share that the daughter of her pastor would be adopting two children. However, she was shocked to learn that she plans on renaming the children, and got vocal about it. Now, Redditor Swatmosquito wanted to know if she crossed a line and whether she was in the wrong for telling another woman not to rename her children. The story is a wild one, and we invite you to check it out for yourself below.

Many people were shocked by the pastor daughter’s decision to rename the children, and they sided with the Original Poster, saying that she wasn’t in the wrong to tell the other woman that she shouldn’t rename the children, as it totally inappropriate.

Renaming someone is a prime example of cultural erasure, and it’s not okay in the slightest!
