Back in the past having grey hair was a sign of wisdom and experience. In different places in the world, is still is. Although that applies more to men while society still seems to have problems with aging women. Almost every woman under 60 reaches out for the dye as soon as the notice the first grey sprouts.
However, times are changing and women are becoming more accepting of their looks and natural processes such as this one. Growing out your hair as it is, is something that is perfectly normal and there is no need of ‘taboo’ around it.
Martha Truslow Smith is a 26-year-old that had enough of this and created an Instagram account called ‘grombre’, as a place to offer support and positivity for women who decide to accept their silver hair.
She continues:
“Is it true that my gray hair is ugly, makes me look old, and means I’m no longer good enough? I’m only in my twenties. If that is true, how will I feel and what will I believe about myself when I’m in my 40s, 50s, 60s?”
Martha explains that she wants to challenge what we consider ‘beautiful’ and not spend time, energy and money in ‘fixing’ something so natural.
So, in addition, we made a collection of inspiring women who’ve had enough of all the dye and truth be told, they really look stunning and beautiful. Check out their looks and their stories and maybe get inspired to do this yourself.
