Woman Proposed To Girlfriend At Homophobic Sister’s Baby Shower, Asks if She’s Wrong

What do you think about the recent trend of people proposing to their partners at events that are actually organized to honor someone else (like birthdays, weddings, etc.)? Personally, I’m not a huge fan of it, and it sometimes even looks like a petty and desperate move to make it all about you.

Proposals are very beautiful and intimate moments, and even though I have absolutely nothing against doing it in public, I’m a firm believer that you shouldn’t “steal the spotlight” from someone else when they’ve spent the time, money, and energy to organize an event to honor someone or some occasion.

However, this story is interesting because even though the woman that shared it stole the spotlight at a party, she did it because she wanted to snag some sweet revenge for her sister’s homophobic behavior.

Reddit user u/ensee3 decided to take it to Reddit’s popular Am I The A-Hole sub to find out if she was in the wrong for proposing to her girlfriend at her twin sister’s baby shower.

As it turns out, her twin sister never supported her for being a lesbian, and she even referred to the OPs partner as “her dyke friend”. So, the OP decided to propose at her sister’s baby shower party, which ended in a disaster. She now wants to know if it was an a-hole move to do, and Reddit was there to clear things out.

Although we can all agree that the sister is the a-hole for being a homophobic douche, Reddit almost exclusively deemed the Original Poster to be the a-hole here for deliberately ruining her sister’s baby shower, and she even offered her partner a lame baby shower proposal.

Stealing the limelight at someone else’s celebration literally never goes well!
