Critics Say Revamped Disneyland Ride Featuring Snow White’s ‘True Love’s Kiss’ Doesn’t Belong In 2021

After being shut down for more than a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Disneyland theme park in Anaheim, California finally reopened – but featured a significant overhaul of the classic Snow White ride. Namely, there’s a revamped version of the classic Snow White ride that portrays the ‘true love kiss’ scene. Critics say that the scene undermines lessons about consent by portraying the Prince kissing Snow White while she’s asleep.

The updated ride takes a lighthearted approach to the tale, featuring new and fun animatronics and scenes.

Critics say, however, that he kisses her without her consent, while she’s asleep, which cannot possibly be true love as long as only one person knows it’s happening.
Other critics wrote that consent is a major issue in Disney movies, and it’s hard to understand why the Disneyland of 2021 would choose to add a scene with such old fashioned ideas of what a man is allowed to do to a woman, especially when considering Disney’s current emphasis on inclusivity and consent.
