Minesh Patel is a student that was confronted by an undercover group named Guardians of the North after he thought that he would be meeting a 14-year-old after grooming. He now pleads to be freed after he was ‘snared’ by hunters looking for people that try to hook up with underage children.
The 27-year-old man even offered to work with the group in a bizarre attempt to persuade them to let him go.
The man had been engaging in an inappropriate WhatsApp chat with a person he believed to be a 14-year-old girl. Little did he know that the girl did not exist, and he was in communication with the hunters group who had disguised themselves as the underage girl.
The man, from London, was arrested soon after, and he appeared at Newcastle Crown Court a few days ago. He pleaded guilty for attempting to cause or incite a child into an inappropriate activity, and one count of attempted grooming.
He was sentenced to 28 months of prison time, and he must sign the offender’s list for 10 years.
Patel was on his way to meet a 14-year-old girl at Gateshead Metro Station, but instead was confronted with the group at a nearby exchange.
The group even filmed his reaction, as he kept begging and pleading to let him go, claiming that he has a ‘good past’ in his native country.
One of the hunters told him that his studies are at end now, and he will not be allowed to study criminology.
